Most people have heard of Fentanyl and many have heard misinformation circulating regarding Fentanyl. This misinformation can be very dangerous to various professionals including law enforcement, children and youth, as well as potential overdose victims themselves. The speaker will share the ins and outs of Fentanyl, its history, it’s appearance both in licit and illicit forms, debunk misconceptions, and provide examples from across the country. By having accurate information, people can feel safe when working in the field.

Mr. Gary Goldberg retired in 2018 after a 36-year career as a Forensic Chemist with the Drug Enforcement Administration all in the Southwest Laboratory in San Diego, Ca. During his career, he assisted in the processing of over 200 clandestine laboratories and was qualified for expert testimony approximately 200 times. He analyzed over 12,000 drug exhibits. For the final 5 years of his career, he held the position of Supervisory Chemist supervising a group of 10 Forensic Chemists. He currently stays busy working as a consultant/trainer for military and law enforcement personnel on clandestine labs, drug awareness and chemical safety. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Crime Victim Rights Law Group and is a contract instructor for the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children.
